ECZEMA SOLUTIONS

Did you know that before Paul & I created iKOU we both used to have eczema? And yet now everyone tells us what great skin we have!

Helping people with sensitive skin conditions is a subject really close to our hearts. We know how life changing it has been for us to find a cure for our eczema. It isn't just about you look, it's about how it makes you feel.

I hope sharing the tips that helped us, will also help you.

And I absolutely love hearing from people who have found iKOU has helped with their eczema and skin conditions.. feel free to share your story!

Your skin renews itself every 21 days, so there is no reason you cannot break the cycle.

FORGET ABOUT FINDING THE MAGIC CREAM:

Hands up who has spent hundreds of dollars and has a drawer full of creams and washes that didn’t work?!

When you have eczema it feels like the eternal quest to find the magic cream to fix it.

We have found the first step is less about WHAT TO USE, and more about WHAT TO ELIMINATE that feeds the problem.

STEP ONE:
THINGS TO AVOID:

• Liquid paraffin based products
• Hot temperature baths & showers
• Scratching & clothing that scratches (like wool)
• Fragrance in products
• SLS-Foaming agents
• Stress
• Chemical based makeup
• Foods that are potential allergens for you (for many people wheat and dairy are big triggers)
• Dust, Mould & Mildew

LIQUID PARAFFIN:
One of the biggest contributors I have seen that continue to feed the problem is products based on liquid paraffin.
Did you know that Sorbelene, and the majority of the products you find in pharmacies for eczema, are all based in liquid paraffin?
(“Therapeutic” products don’t require the full ingredients disclosure on the label, so you might not even know!)

In the short term they appear to help because they feel moisturising, but in the long term they feed the cycle because they smother the skin and stop the new skin cells regenerating.

STEP TWO:

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! When our skin loses its natural oils, it is vulnerable to so many things.. it no longer has protection against environmental factors, wind, dust, pollutants, germs, viruses. Our skins natural sebum also waterproofs our skin and holds the water into our skin to stop it becoming dehydrated. Using a natural, organic moisturiser that balances protecting skin with allowing it to breathe is key to healing skin conditions like eczema and sensitive skin.
