WANT TO GET OFF THE STRESS CYCLE?

Are you tired of feeling like there is never any time (or energy!) left for you?

This week we look at the subject of "Organisation" and the impact it has on the way we feel.

ORGANISATION = LESS STRESS = MORE ENERGYStress drains us.

THE MAGIC OF THE MORNING:

Our morning sets the tone for our entire day.

Get it off to an organised start, and your mindset follows.

Start the day with chaos, and your energy is already depleted.

Scenario:

Have you found yourself in the mornings having trouble finding a piece of clothing you wanted to wear, or trying on multiple things with nothing feeling “right”?

Finally you pull together an outfit as you run out the door having not had time for breakfast with a piece of toast in hand, or even worse having eaten nothing at all.

What sort of day do you think you will have after a start like this?

  • Keep keys and personal items in allocated places so you can always find them quickly.
  • Get to bed early so that you’ve had enough sleep to get straight out of bed without hitting the snooze button, and with adequate time to get ready in the mornings.
  • Allow adequate time for tasks and travel.
  • Plan your day and use to-do lists with priority of order, then stick to it!
  • Have your next days clothes laid out ready and your outfit and accessories chosen the night before.

EFFICIENCY = MORE TIME!

ORGANISATION TAKES EFFORT, BUT IT’S WORTH IT!

MEAL PLANNING & FOOD ORGANISATION:

Last weeks blog talked about the power of food for our energy.

But often when we are busy, our meals are the thing we outsource first!

Want to know my secret to preparing great food to nourish me throughout the working week?

For those of you who have read my book “iKOU- Energise your life”, you will know that I base my meal planning on “Foundations” of food.

The foundations are the things that extend beyond one meal easily, with leftovers being turned into new dishes for variety with ease without having to start from scratch each time.

They also include several things I make batches of to freeze.

Sunday is my food prep day.

It only takes me a couple of hours and then I reward myself with a “Sunday Spa day” home spa treatment.

The things I make to freeze are energy balls, smoothie bags and lentil burgers/balls.

I make enough for 2-3 weeks, so each week I can rotate the task and don’t have tp make them all at once.

I also make a hot meal for Sunday night that always has leftovers, so Mondays I go into the week with a head start.

My book includes all my favourite regulars like Dhal, Chilli Beans etc, and all are plant-based, gluten-free and easily scalable for the size of our household.

Start the routine of Sunday afternoon, and you will be so happy enjoying the benefits during the week.

Your energy will increase both from the great food you are nourishing yourself with, and the ease with which you are doing it.

SUNDAY SPA DAY:

Scheduling time for yourself on a regular day of the week for self-care though a home-spa ritual ensures you get regular time to de-stress and boost your energy.

My day is Sunday, after my meal prep, and so I go into my new week relaxed and recharged (and that my appearance cared for too, it gets away from you otherwise lol!)

In my book I talk about the importance of naming your self-care day, so it feels like a regular appointment with yourself.

I call mine "Sunday Spa Day”, but I know others call it “Self-Care Sunday” or “Friday Night Spa Night”, and even “Goddess Friday”.

Giving it a name reminds others this is your time for you also, and including the name of the day in the name ensures you remember it.

I have had many women tell me they’ve been neglecting themselves lately; “I haven’t had a Sunday Spa day for 3 weeks, it’s terrible!”

But actually when I hear this, I think it is fantastic...

Not because they are missing their time for self, but that they are aware they are missing it.

If they didn’t have this organised as a weekly goal, potentially months will go by before they realise they haven’t taken any time for self-care.

So choose your name, and add it into your schedule!

Get organised with a cupboard of drawer of iKOU home spa products so you can dip into them on Spa Day.

  • A face polish and mask should be used weekly for the best benefits, so doing these on your spa day ensures you use them each week.
  • A Body Scrub and a Deep Conditioner are also great.
  • And I love a hot bath with candles and music!
  • Also, if you get organised by creating a “wardrobe of scent” with essential oils and candles, you can choose what you need according to your mood.

Our energy and time is a currency.

We can give it away needlessly by being disorganised and letting life “happen to us”, or we can protect it and boost it by getting organised and bringing focus to doing more of the things that make us thrive.

It’s a choice.

And yes, it takes conscious effort but it’s worth it for the flow-on effect it has in our life.

What are you doing this weekend?

Can you bring some more energy to just one area of your life that you could get more organised in this week?
